FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: described is method of preparing alpha, omega-aminonitrilese by partial hydrogenation of aliphatic alpha, omega dinitriles at elevated temperature and elevated pressure in the presence of solvent and catalyst. Method comprises using catalyst comprising (a) compound based on metal selected from group consisting of nickel, cobalt, and iron; (b) from 0.01 to 25, preferably from 0.1 to 5 wt % based on (a) promotor selected from group consisting of copper, molybdenum, manganese, aluminium, phosphorus, silicon and also (c) up to 5, preferably from 0.1 to 3 wt % based on (a) compound based on alkali or alkaline-earth metal provided that component (a) is not iron and cobalt-based compound if (b) is promoter based on metal selected from group consisting of manganese and molybdenum. Method makes it possible to prepare alpha, omega aminonitriles having good selectivity. The claimed catalyst have long service life. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 6 cl, 6 ex, 1 tbl
