FIELD: storage and transportation of optical fiber. SUBSTANCE: reel has drum onto which optical fiber is wound. Drum is covered with lining of preset thickness to protect optical fiber from impacts. First round flange is arranged on first end of drum, and second round flange, on opposite end of drum. Slot for pulling out optical fiber is made on first round flange. Through this slot end part of wound-on optical fiber is pulled out. Slot is made so that its upper surface is arranged at a distance equal to at least twice the preset thickness of lining from inner diameter of first round flange. Case consists of two parts, each made in form of half-ring with handle for transportation on one end, and with catch on other end. EFFECT: damage of optical fiber reduced to minimum. 7 cl, 3 dwg
