SUBSTANCE: checker consists of refractory blocks with ribs on wide lateral surface and bevel shears or vertical recesses on narrow lateral face and ribs; vertical and horizontal passages are zigzag in shape; ribs of refractory blocks are located at angle of 45 to 70 deg relative to their base; bevel shears or vertical recesses of adjacent ribs have opposite direction, thus increasing heating surface and heat transfer coefficient.
