FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device used for charging electrical energy storage units such as storage batteries and storage capacitors is characterized in that charging process is conducted in pulse mode with floating component of charging current; automation is attained by using charging voltage ranging between rated value and voltage permissible for discharged electrical energy storage unit with currents of transformer secondary half-windings being unequal; pulse charging, its indication, ON/OFF operation of device are effected by contactless switch that has thyristor whose anode (gate electrode) is shorted out by light-emitting diode and by cathode connected to gate electrode. Contactless switch and uncontrolled full-wave rectifier are cooled down by means of semiconductor devices mounted on transformer case and spaced apart at maximal distance. EFFECT: reduced initial current and size of device. 1 dwg
