METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING THE CASES OF COLASTOSIS Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves measuring cross-section sizes of cecum, transverse colon, sigmoid colon and their correspondence indices are calculated using a formula I=D₁/D₂×100%, where I is the correspondence index, D₁ is the proximal large intestine segment diameter, D₂ is the distal large intestine segment diameter. Three indices are calculated: cecal-to-transverse one, transverse-to-sigmoid one and cecal-to-sigmoid one, and compared to the reference values being equal to 128% in the case of cecal-to-transverse index, 142% in the case of transverse-to-sigmoid index, 182% in the case of cecal-to-sigmoid index. Measurements are done using the single irrigogram after tightly filling the large intestine. The whole large intestine motor state and that of large intestine segments, and the colostasis nature are evaluated. The indices being greater than the corresponding reference values, proximal segment hypotonia diagnosis related to the particular index is to be set. The index being less than the corresponding reference value, distal segment hypotonia diagnosis is to be set as one reflected by the particular index. Sigmoid colon hypertonus and hypotonus of the cecum and transverse colon being the case, hypertonic type of colostasis is to be diagnosed. Total hypotonia being found to be the case, hypotonic type of colostasis is to be diagnosed. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of diagnosis. 1 dwg
