METHOD FOR EVALUATING LARGE INTESTINE TONUS Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying irrigography under conditions of completely full and evacuated intestine. Linear dimensions of large intestine segments are measured using the irrigograms. Cross-section dimensions of cecum, transverse colon, and sigmoid colon are measured from the irrigograms in direct projection. Segment expansion coefficient is calculated for every segment as K=D₁, where D₂ is the segment cross-size in completely filled state, D₁ is the segment cross-size after its being evacuated. Segment expansion coefficient exceeding reference values of 1.68 in the case of the cecum, 2.02 in the case of the transverse colon, 1.83 in the case of the sigmoid colon, hypotonus state is to be diagnosed. The values being below the reference values, hypertonus of the corresponding colon segment is to be diagnosed. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of prognosis; simplified method. 2 dwg
