FIELD: manufacture of building materials; applicable in manufacture of articles for heat insulation of printing units and power-generating equipment with temperature of insulated surface up to 1000 C. SUBSTANCE: to produce claimed material, mixture is prepared of the following composition, wt.%: swollen vermiculite 35-60; fireclay 30-44; high-alumina-cement 1-3; dust of electric precipitators 1-20. Mixture is moistened with aqueous solution of carboxymethyl cellulose with content of the latter (above 100% of mixture composition) of 1.3-3.5 wt.%. prepared mixture is supplied to auger extruder where it is additionally treated, compacted and extruded into roll from which articles are pressed and dried to moisture content of less than 1%. EFFECT: improved operating characteristics due to low and uniform linear and volume shrinkage, excluded article deformation in drying, and reduced power consumption. 2 cl, 1 ex
