ATMOSPHERE-RESISTANT VARNISHED COMPOSITION Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: preparation of paintwork materials, more particularly polystyrene-based film-forming agent, protection of exterior, metallic, concrete and wooden surfaces from atmospheric corrosion in various industries. SUBSTANCE: described is atmosphere-resistant varnished composition comprising film-forming agent based on 20% polystyrene solution in solvent, plasticizer, pigments and modifying additive. Plasticizer is alph-methylstyrene dimer: pigment-modifying additive is carbamide-formaldehyde powder with particle size of up to 20 mcm and oil capacity of up to 90 g/100 g, ratios of component being as follows: film-forming agent based on 20% polystyrene solution in solvent, 79.5; pigment-modifying additive which is carbide-formaldehyde powder, 4.5-7.5; alpha- methylstyrene dimer plasticizer, 5.5; and pigments, the balance. EFFECT: improved coating by to addition of certain amount of carbide-formaldehyde polymer which improves protective properties of the coating on metallic, wooden and concrete surfaces, reduced amount of pigment used, and wider range of light colors.
