FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: heavy crude oils and bitumens are treated with C5-C16-alkanes or gasoline fractions while hydrodynamically affecting crude material by bubbling separated oil-field gas, in particular fireflooding gas, at flow rate 50 to 500 cu.m/min per 1 t crude material. Preliminary treatment reduces water level in crude material to 5 wt %. Then, crude material is deasphalted with 5 to 15-fold volume excess of solvent to give product with 2.8 to 6.2 wt % of occluded adducts when calculated for waterless material.
