FIELD: mechanical engineering, deposition of protective coats on parts of machines working under conditions of enhanced wear-out and high contact loads. SUBSTANCE: process includes injection of powder to be deposited into plasma jet, thermal activation of machined surface by initiation of remote electric arc aligned with plasma jet and transportation of powder by plasma jet towards machined surface. Remote electric arc in this case is fed with pulsating current with pulse repetition frequency of 25-100 Hz with average power of pulsating arc between 1.0-8.5 kW. EFFECT: increased quality of coats thanks to growth of its local density and adhesive strength without overheating of material of machined surface. 1 dwg
