FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: described are new phenylindole compounds of general formula I: wherein R¹-R⁴ are independently hydrogen, deuterium. C_1-6, alkyl and C_1-6 alkoxy provided that all four substituents are not simultaneously hydrogen, or at least one pair of substituents h¹, R² or R³, R⁴ are oxo group, and if only oxo group is present, two other substituents are selected from above-mentioned which is defined for R¹-R⁴ provided that both groups are not simultaneously hydrogen, or R¹-R² and/or R³ and R⁴ are combined and form 3-8 membered spirocycle or acid addition salt thereof. Compounds of formula I are nocatalephogenic 5-HT₂ receptor antagonists and demonstrate features of antipsychotic effect in model. Said compounds are therefore useful for treating psychosis, depression, negative symptoms of schizophrenia, hypertension or extrapyramidal side effects caused by drugs.
