FIELD: physical and chemical processing of jewelry stones and minerals.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of physical and chemical processing of jewelry stones and minerals, in particular the processing of natural cassiterite of black and dark brown colors. The method consists in pre-selecting cassiterite crystals larger than 5 mm, washing them in water, drying them, selecting transparent crystals or crystals containing transparent zones, and then subjecting them to heat treatment in an oxidized environment at atmospheric pressure, at a temperature in the range of 600 to 1000℃ for a time of up to 30 minutes, at a heating rate of 3 to 5℃/min. Cooling the cassiterite crystals is carried out under natural conditions to room temperature.
EFFECT: technical result is to simplify the processing of natural cassiterite crystals while improving its color characteristics.
