FIELD: jewelry production.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a completely automatic robot for polishing a facet of a gemstone, and a method implemented by means of a robot. The robot contains a unit for polishing gemstones, which contains a gemstone holder for maintenance of a gemstone in contact with an abrasive surface, and it is made with the possibility of polishing the specified gemstone in a set of iterations based on a feedback signal. The robot also contains an image capture unit capable of capturing during one or more of the set of iterations at least one image of a gemstone, and an image processing unit containing one or more processors intended for analyzing at least one image of a gemstone by one or a set of parameters of a gemstone during one or more of the set of iterations. Moreover, the image processing unit is additionally capable of comparing one or the set of analyzed parameters of a gemstone with one or a set of predetermined parameters of a gemstone for generating a feedback signal, which should be transmitted to the unit for polishing gemstones.
EFFECT: robot does not need the intervention of an operator, provides for a high level of accuracy, and is easily set.
