FIELD: woodworking. SUBSTANCE: wood colored by fungal pigments or darkened from atmospheric or solar effects is bleached in two steps. Wood is first treated with aqueous solution containing 25-55% sodium hypochlorite, 1-5% sodium or potassium hydroxide, and water.
