FIELD: chemical industry, more particularly preparation of acetic acid. SUBSTANCE: calcium acetate is prepared by treatment of calcium oxide, hydroxide, carbonate or mixture thereof with 42-65% acetic acid at stoichiometric ratio of original components followed by crystallization and drying of product. Crystallization is carried out by maintaining the product for 16 hours, and latter is dried at 80-100 C.
