FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves selecting animal nerve trunk under general anesthesia and measuring nerve irritation threshold. Local action of anesthetic agent under study is applied to the nervus vagus cut in the cervical area. Then, the nerve is irritated with discrete discharges composed of three electric impulses (1.5-2 ms, 30-40 Hz, 5-6 thresholds). The discharges are delivered synchronously with R-tooth of the electrocardiogram to points proximal with respect to local action under conditions of constant body temperature. Local anesthetic activity is evaluated (LAA, %) from a formula: LAA= 100(ICE-TCE)/ICE, where the ICE and TCE are initial (before subjecting the nerve to action) and tested chronotrope result of vagus nervus irritation during the action time, respectively. EFFECT: high quality of conductor anesthesia.
