FIELD: medicine, pharmacology, pharmacy. SUBSTANCE: sedative drug has alpha-bromoisovaleric acid ethyl ester, phenobarbital, peppermint essential oil, marjoram essential oil prepared by reextraction of marjoram herb technical grade carbonic acid extract with 70% ethyl alcohol and 50% spirituous-aqueous mixture in the following ratio of components, g/100 g of agent: alpha-bromoisovaleric acid ethyl ester, 2.0; phenobarbital, 2.0; peppermint essential oil, 0.14; marjoram essential oil, 0.02 and 50% ethyl alcohol up to 100. Method of preparing marjoram essential oil for medicinal aims by its extraction from marjoram herb involves reextraction of marjoram herb technical grade carbonic acid extract with 70% ethanol. Suspended particles are removed and marjoram essential oil ethanol solution is obtained. Method can be used for preparing sedative drugs and marjoram essential oil prepared by proposed method shows antistress activity.
