FIELD: machine tool manufacture, possibly flexible automatic satellite type lines. SUBSTANCE: method comprises use of floating carriages mounted with possibility of rotation. Satellite is arranged between them. Carriages have members for basing and mounting. Basing members are introduced with gap into openings provided in angular portions of each face of satellite. Mounting members are clamped to said faces in basing areas. Carriages are aligned with axial symmetry relative to satellite. Set rotation angles of carriages are equal one to another. Machine tool for performing the method includes self-aligning module with floating carriages. Carriages are mounted opposite relative to respective opposite faces of satellite with possibility of rotation and linear motion. In description of invention variants of design of machine tool are offered. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of satellite mounting in machine tool, high accuracy of part working. 5 cl, 6 dwg
