FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of diagnosing condition of mechanisms and machines, internal combustion engines in particular, by measuring clearances in different joints. Vibration pulses are separated on one of resonance frequencies of vibroacoustic channel corresponding to checked joint on shut-down engine by creating vibrations in checked joint using stand-by source (vibrator) at changing of vibration frequency till resonance effect.
