FIELD: methods of treatment of sewage waters and spent solutions containing suspended matter, organic impurities and sulfides, for instance, in production of leather and fur. SUBSTANCE: method includes, first, oxidation of sulfides in alkali media with air oxygen up to sulfates with use of ultraviolet radiation of sewage. Introduced as catalyst for intensification of oxidation of sulfides and thiosulfates is ferric oxide in amount of 20-40 mg/l depending on content of sulfides in initial sewage waters. For still increased intensification of process, it is possible to introduce hydrogen peroxide in amount of 20-50 mg/l as process initiator. Intensity of ultraviolet radiation is up to 15 kw.cu.m. Upon completion of oxidation, suspended matter and organic impurities are separated by settling. EFFECT: intensified process of oxidation of sulfides and sulfide-thiosulfate compounds in sewage waters and spent solutions, without preliminary clarification of sewages, up to sulfates i. e. accelerated process, reduced consumption of reagents and volume of formed wet sludges. 2 cl, 1 tbl, 21 ex
