FIELD: metallurgy; applicable in ship building, mechanical engineering, food industry and medicine. SUBSTANCE: claimed steel contains components in the following amounts, wt.%: carbon 0,.01-0.04; chrome 21.0-24.0; silicon 0.25-0.65; manganese 0.25- 0.70; nitrogen 1.00-1.40; the balance, iron, and relation of total content of ferrite-forming elements to total content of austenite-forming elements conforms to condition given in the invention description. Offered steel may posses structure obtained after hardening in water from temperature of 1190-1230 C and structure obtained after hardening in water and tempering at temperature of 400-430 C for 3-3.5 H with subsequent cooling in air down to room temperature. EFFECT: higher level of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of steel, provided possibility of its use in manufacture of medicine equipment and implants. 3 cl, 3 tbl
