FIELD: production of activated carbon, thermal treatment of materials used in coal-mining, gold-extracting, construction and some other branches of industry, re-activation of used carbon sorbents. SUBSTANCE: furnace has body housing cylindrical retort, heating elements, refractory insulation, loading and unloading gears, inlet and outlet branch pipes of gaseous reagents. Characteristic feature of given furnace lies in manufacture of retort with ratio of its diameter to length equal to 1:10-18, of spirals with ratio of diameter of wire to spiral as 1:6-10, in location of spiral at distance from retort equal to 3-5 diameters of turn, in fitting of furnace with suction fan communicating with branch pipe for outlet of gaseous products. Proposed furnace makes it feasible to reduce energy consumption and labor input in process of its running by 25-35% and especially during repairs, to increase its mechanical strength up to 89-94% and adsorption capacity by standard substances in produced sorbents by 20-30%.
