FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed method can find use in determination of specific resistance and magnetic permeability of homogeneous metal articles. Four-electrode needle converter is suggested to be used to measure A C voltage across potential pair of electrodes when skin-effect develops as factor. Results of measurement can be used to compute either real component of surface stress on low or high frequency or real and imaginary components of this stress on moderate frequency. Specific resistance and magnetic permeability are determined simultaneously by diagram of isolines of real or real and imaginary components of surface stress plotted in advance for these frequencies on plane of alternating magnetic permeability and specific resistance with due account of positions of points of input of current and pick-off of voltage.
