FIELD: microbiological methods. SUBSTANCE: invention is designed for standardization of microbial cultures in production of diagnostic and medical-and-prophylactic preparations. Microbial suspensions are first treated with sodium hydroxide solutions and then diluted by a factor of 10. Diluted suspension is treated for 3-5 min in series with tannin solution and 0.1 M hydrochloric acid solution supplemented by 4% of lactic acid. The thus treated microbial suspension is placed in hemocytometric chamber and hold in formaldehyde vapors for at least 1 h. For glanderous, rabbit-fever, and brucellosis microbes, respectively, 0.05 M, 0.001 M, and 0.01 M sodium hydroxide solutions and 0.15%, 0.2%, and 0.5% tannin solutions are used. EFFECT: increased accuracy and microbial cell count rapidity. 4 cl, 3 tbl, 3 ex
