FIELD: instrumentation, detection of lack of planeness of free surface of liquid. SUBSTANCE: method employs phenomenon of thermal capillary convection induced by thermal action of laser radiation. Information is extracted from interference picture ( thermal capillary response ) of laser beam inducing convection observed on screen placed in cross-section of caustic, that is reflected from free surface of liquid deformed by thermal capillary convection. Planeness of free surface of liquid is tested by deviation of form of thermal capillary response from round one which corresponds to flat free surface. EFFECT: simplified test of planeness of free surface of liquid. 2 dwg
