FIELD: thermal methods of measurement of energy parameters of laser beams. SUBSTANCE: layer of liquid with free surface on radiation absorbing heat non-conducting plate is employed as radiation detector. Absorption of measured radiation leads to development of thermal capillary convective vortex which results in deformation of free surface in the form of recess. Part of radiation is reflected by surface of recess and carries information on its shape in the form of interference picture. Power of beam ( or pulse energy ) is measured by evolution of interference picture from start of irradiation. EFFECT: considerably reduced measurement time. 1 cl, 2 dwg, 1 tbl
