FIELD: obtaining degradated products from high-molecular compounds used as a base for production of additives of polyfunctional action, organic binders, modifying agents of various types, etc., as well as devices for use in combination worm-disk extruders for obtaining of low-molecular products by the degradation method. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in degradation of high-molecular compounds being in melt in the disk adapter by way of mechanical and thermal action on high-molecular compounds. Prior to degradation of high-molecular compounds in the disk adapter, their preliminary degradation is accomplished in a worm extruder. Degradation of high-molecular compounds in the disk adapter is carried out at a melt temperature equal to or below than that at the outlet of the worm extruder. The worm-disk extruder has a feed roller, worm with a screw thread located in it and connected to the rotation drive, and a successively positioned disk adapter. The adapter shaft is made hollow. The adapter body has a cooling jacket. The feed roller is provided with explosive bolts, and the worm - with a cowl.
