FIELD: automobile transport, applicable in anti-skid stud arrangement of tire treads. SUBSTANCE: the tire is installed on a support, blind holes are drilled in the tire tread flanges. Preliminary the stud is inserted in a cylindrical holder. The stud is brought to the hole on the tire. The holder is rotated, imparting an eccentric circular motion around the axis of rotation to it, with a shift not exceeding the hole diameter, and/or the holder is rotated on a generator of a cone with an angle at the vertex not exceeding 20 deg. The stud is worked deeper by axial feed of it up to the stop against the hole bottom. Then, the holder is extracted from the hole. The device for stud installation has a post, support for the tire, orientation mechanism for piecemeal feed and fixing of studs, and a pressing-in device. The pressing-in device has a spindle provided with a drive of its rotation and axial displacement relative to the body and connected to the body post installed in the spindle body. The body is attached to the post by means of spring-loaded hinge joints. The pressing-in device has a cylindrical holder installed in the spindle with an adjustable eccentricity within 2 mm, whose working section is made with a bend at an angle not exceeding 10 deg. to the spindle axis. The drive for axial displacement of the spindle is of the lever type. The support for the tire is provided with a drive for its turning. EFFECT: enhanced capacity of stud arrangement, reliability of stud fitting in the hole, durability of its subsequent operation. 2 cl, 6 dwg
