FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves building two-dimensional image of the right atrium at the moment of opening mitral valve by echo contrast treatment of the right atria with a series of most bright echographic points. Echodensitometric image processing is carried out using linear tissue density-image brightness function. Interatrial septum defect is diagnosed by detecting negative contrast phenomenon in the right atrium observable after removing the areas from the image, which density is equal to at least 24-29% beginning from zero level corresponding to blood density in the left atrium. EFFECT: high accuracy of diagnosis in detecting both large and small defects.
