FIELD: hydration-dehydration catalysts. SUBSTANCE: regeneration is effected by way of burning out carbon-containing compounds and coke with air oxygen in water steam flow, after which catalyst is washed with desalted water at ratio 1:(3-20) and temperature 20 to 100 C to achieve required residual level of sodium oxide in catalyst. Catalyst regenerated this way increases conversion of methylphenylcarbinol by 16 to 80%. Method also allows reuse of entirely exhausted catalysts. EFFECT: increased regeneration efficacy. 1 tbl
