FIELD: alumina catalyst production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing an alumina catalyst for the process of vapor-phase dehydration of methylphenylcarbinol to styrene. The described method consists in taking a paste based on aluminum monohydroxide of boehmite or pseudoboehmite structure with impurities of aluminum trihydrate, the content of which does not exceed 20 wt. %, the drying of the paste before molding is carried out in two stages, first the initial product is dried in a drum dryer to a moisture content of 58-60%, and then it is dried in a kneading machine with heating at 80-110°С to a moisture content of at least 55% for no more than 60 minutes , calcination is carried out at a temperature of 650-800°С.
EFFECT: production of molded alumina with high mechanical strength, high methylphenylcarbinol conversion and styrene selectivity.
