FIELD: materials handling facilities; belt conveyors. SUBSTANCE: proposed belt conveyor has frame belt, guide secured on frame with horizontal bar to support conveyor belt in upper run, drive unit furnished with chain mounted under middle part of belt, and pairs of contact rollers. It has also device to drive chain for setting belt into motion and device for supporting contact rollers and belt in lower run of conveyor. Chain has many central chain rollers installed with clearance relative to each other for moving along guide with support against horizontal bar in upper run of conveyor. According to other design version, belt conveyor has conveyor belt, shingle chain installed under middle part of belt, device to drive chain for moving belt along guide, devices for directing belt along guide in upper and devices for directing belt in lower run furnished with contact roller unit including contact rollers installed at both sides of chain for moving along guide. Chain is made of large number of central chain rollers to form devices for directing belt in upper run. Contact roller unit is stationary secured on chain.
