FIELD: mechanical engineering; materials handling facilities; conveyors. SUBSTANCE: belt conveyor has upper and lower carrying runs displaced vertically relative to each other, moving in opposite directions and having inlet and outlet ends. First gang of rollers arranged between outlet end of upper run and inlet end of lower run directs belt in lower direction around first system of drive to inlet end of lower run along first belt travel path section displaced downwards and running below the level of lower run and in upper direction, to inlet end of lower run from static tensioning device installed below the lower run. Second gang of rollers arranged between outlet end of lower run and inlet end of upper run directs belt in lower direction from outlet end of lower run along second belt travel path section displaced downwards and arranged below the level of lower run around second system of drive and in upper direction to inlet end of upper run. Feed and take away conveyors of lower run located, respectively, under first and second belt travel sections displaced downwards meet to align and pass away from alignment with inlet and outlet ends of lower run to deliver loads "in line" to lower run and from the run. Feed and take away conveyors of upper run are aligned in side direction with inlet and outlet ends of upper run. EFFECT: transportation of loads at varying load characteristics along one straight line in two directions. 9 cl, 6 dwg
