FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: natural GRAPHITES is placed into well-stirred reactor and fuming HNO3 is added in the mass ratio HNO3 : : Cgr = 0.6 : 1. Treatment is carried out for 1-2 h, then H2SO4 is added (mass ratio H2SO4 : Cgr = (0.33-0.5) : 1) or H3PO4 (mass ratio H3PO4 : Cgr = (0.75-1.5) : 1). Treated product is washed out with water and dried at 50-100 C. Overweight of oxidized graphite is 8-33%, bulk density is 1.8-4 g/l, impurity content, wt.-%: S, up to 1.46; N, 0.011-0.412; H3PO4, up to 2.12.
