FIELD: electrical engineering, manufacture of insulated wires. SUBSTANCE: given process includes application of polyethylene insulation on to current-conducting conductor by extrusion followed by cooling in water having temperature 5-15 C below the lower boundary of phase transition of polyethylene from viscous-flow to amorphous-crystalline state under pressure of 0.3-1.2 MPa till temperature of current-conducting conductor corresponds to lower boundary of specified phase transition and then by cooling in room- temperature water. EFFECT: manufacture of wires with monolithic insulation and high operational characteristics. 1 tbl
