FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: diesel locomotive has frame with bogies. Frame carries driver's cab, engine compartment with engine and power train, dc generator, motor-generator set, motor-compressor, cooler, fuel tank and control mechanisms. Both engine shafts are connected by propeller shafts, through hydraulic couplings, overdrive units and reduction gears, with four horizontal propulsion units installed coaxially relative to each other, two units per side. All four horizontal propulsion units are of similar design, each being provided with cylindrical housing with inlet and outlet nozzles. Cones are mounted on brackets inside housing. Driving shaft on inner reduction gear is connected with reduction gear through side opening. Traction units of unlimited number are installed on drive hollow shafts of inner reduction gear. Traction units are mechanically connected with direction selector mechanism. Each traction unit has smooth fixed secured on output hollow shaft and two movable disks, each placed at one side of fixed disk. Movable disks are provided with round-or rectangular-section through channels located on concentric circumferences in even number in each circumference and inclined towards side of rotation at angle to plane passing through center of rotation.
