FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: prior to machining, grinding wheel end is set according to radius equal to that of tapered roller end. Rollers being machined are loaded into continuously rotating disc provided with sockets positioned radially along periphery. Rollers move relative to grinding wheel end at speed of ring feed. Grinding wheel end is driven to oscillation about point which is located on disc axis and serves as a center of radius of machined spherical surface. Direction of oscillation is perpendicular to axis of wheel rotation. Oscillation amplitude is not less than value of cone angle of roller generatrix.
