FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: engine is designed for converting heat energy into mechanical work. Two-row engine has vertical cylinders connected by side walls. Crank-shaft main journals are fitted in bearings arranged in side walls. Crankshaft has crankpin enclosed in bearing in its middle part. Flexible tie-rods laid horizontally in opposite sides are connected to sides of bearing housing. Tie-rods pass over sheaves and run downwards where each tie-rod is secured on its end of bell-crank fitted through bushing on axle. Ends of axle are fastened in side walls of cylinder block. Other bell-cranks are connected by plates in parallel with first bell-crank at its sides, thus forming a rocker with common bushing. Ends of bell-cranks are hinge-connected with lower parts of piston rods. During working stroke, piston rod moves downwards turning arm of bell- crank hinge-coupled with rod by means of pin. Other bell-cranks of rocker coupled with other pistons execute preparatory strokes. End of rocker central bell-crank will move downwards together with flexible tie-rod connected to bell crank. After the sheave, tie-rod, being approximately horizontal, will pull housing of crankpin bearing to which tie-rod is connected. Housing will turn and, through crankpin, will turn crankshaft. Crankshaft will reach side dead center, and flywheel of crankshaft will bring crankpin from side dead center. EFFECT: increased efficiency, cut down consumption of fuel and lubricants. 2 cl, 4 dwg
