FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines for automobiles and tractors, special vehicles, supply units and stationary mechanisms. SUBSTANCE: radial engine has two rows of spiders lying in two horizontal planes parallel relative to each other whose cylinders are shifted in phase through half of cylinder V-angle in spider. Pistons of each spider are hinge connected by set connecting rods with corresponding crankpin of crankshaft consisting of two cranks connected by crankpins at angle of 180o relative to each other through central cheek. Crankshaft is installed vertically in upper and lower halves of crankcase by its journals in bearings. Crankcase halves are interconnected by holder which plays the part of base, together crankcase halves for mounting other mechanisms and units of engine. Upper end of crankshaft is driving end for mechanisms and systems of engine. Torque removed from lower end is transmitted successively through toothed pair, chain drive or chain variable-speed drive to clutch, gearbox and final drive mounted in corresponding spaces of housing. Housing is connected to flywheel casing to form common unit with engine. Each cylinder of one spider operates in antiphase with diametrically opposite cylinder of second spider. Six cylinders of ten cylinder engines are simultaneously in working stroke. Engine can be mounted in front or rear space of body or out of automobile body (chassis) and on axle of semitrailer.
