FIELD: powder metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes preparation of charge of reactive composition; self-propagating high-temperature synthesis; grinding of synthesis products to powdery state. Grinding is effected by passing the product between mill rolls with observance of the following conditions: 0.002 0.007, where Lo is the distance between axes of roll pair in their joined state; L1 is the distance between axes of roll pair in working position. Grinding of product is carried out under conditions of slipping of one roll relative to the other one with observance of the following relationship: 1.013 1.2, where D, N are, respectively diameter and speed of rotation of roll slipping relative to the other one of the pair and whose diameter is d and its speed is n. In addition, product is ground on rolls with stepped change of diameters along roll length. In this case, diameters of a pair of rolls of each step are interrelated by relation given in the intention description.
