FIELD: molded ceramic products based on alumina slags; applicable in manufacture of ceramic propping devices of oil wells and other types of alumina-containing products. SUBSTANCE: method includes the following operations: sintering, milling, compaction and roasting. Sintering is performed in agglomeration basin at temperature of 1360-1650 C and roasting is carried out at temperature of 1180-1350 C. Milling is effected by wet method in low-acid medium at pH 4.5-6.0 to attain specific surface of material of above 12000 sq. cm/g. Product compaction is accomplished by granulation from powders produced by spraying drying in presence of hydrophobic surfactant in amount of 0.01-0.3%. The proposed method is aimed at manufacture of ceramic popping devices for oil wells from low-cost alumina-containing raw material allowing easy fine milling with lower roasting temperature.
