FIELD: nondestructive testing of materials by ultrasonic method, mechanical engineering and metallurgical industry. SUBSTANCE: given device has generator of sounding pulses, piezoelectric converter, amplifier connected in series, normalization unit, time selector, meter of time intervals. Device is fitted with control and computation unit, reference frequency generator, delay circuit, digital-to-analog converter and indicator. First input of normalization unit is connected to output of amplifier, second input of normalization unit is linked to output of digital-to-analog converter and its output is connected to input of time selector whose second input is connected to output of delay circuit and whose output is linked to first input of meter of time intervals. Output of meter of time intervals is connected to input of control and computation unit. Output of reference frequency generator is connected to second input of meter of time intervals and first input of delay circuit. First output of control and computation unit is linked to input of generator of sounding pulses and to third input of meter of time intervals, second output of same unit is connected to second input of delay circuit, third output of same unit is connected to input of digital-to-analog converter, fourth output of unit is connected to input of indicator.
