FIELD: inspection technology; non-destructive check.
SUBSTANCE: device relates to methods for width gauging and measuring textural anisotropy and strain-stress state of constructions and rolled ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys with various widths in case of one-sided access, for defect detection and structurescopy of various materials and products. It is supposed to be used in metallurgy, machinery, aircraft engineering, car manufacturing and other industries. The method is implemented via a thickness meter which comprises a probing pulse oscillator (1), an ultrasonic generator (2), a receiving amplifier (3), an analog-digital converter (4), a programmable memory block (5) with RAM (6), a central processor (7) with its own RAM (8), a display unit (9) for control results and a display unit (10) denoting the used measurement method (autocorrelation sequence measurement or echo technique, the so-called threshold measurement) or the measurement impossibility.
