FIELD: drilling of oil and gas wells, particularly, lubricating additives to drilling muds. SUBSTANCE: lubricating additive to drilling muds includes synthetic fluid, neutralizing agent and water. It is distinguished by the fact that it contains synthetic fluid in the form of acetal or alphaoleins or polyalphaoleins, higher fat acids from C9 and higher. Neutralizing agent is used in the form of hydroxides of alkali metals. Lubricating additive has the following ratio of components, mas.%: synthetic fluid, 10-35; fat acids, 60-80; neutralizing agent, 0-3; water, the balance. EFFECT: higher dispersibility in aqueous phase of drilling muds, reduced friction coefficient, formed dense lubricating layers stable under conditions of tangential and normal loads. 1 tbl
