FIELD: drilling of oil and gas wells, particularly, lubricating additives to drilling muds. SUBSTANCE: lubricating additive to drilling muds includes fat acids, neutralizing agent and water. Fat acids are used in the form of synthetic and/or natural acids with C7 and higher. Neutralizing agent is used in the form of inorganic bases or their mixtures and additionally of nitrogen-containing bases or their mixtures, and lower monobasic alcohols with C2-5, or oligomer polyethylene glycols with 2-5 polymerization degree or their mixtures, or oligomer polyprolylene glycols with 1-3 polymerization degree. Lubricating additive has the following ratio of components, mas.%: fat acids, 20-85; alcohols, polyethylene glycols, polypropylene glycols, 10-40; neutralizing agent, 1-8; organic bases, 0.1-20; water, the balance. EFFECT: reduced friction coefficient and low solidification temperature. 1 tbl
