FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method, fuel- air mixture is prepared by evaporating liquid fuel from fuel-impregnated plates of hydroscopic element in air flow with formation of fuel gas and mixing the gas with additional air flow. Air is fed through hydroscopic element tangentially relative to impregnated plates of hydroscopic element. Device has evaporation chamber, liquid fuel evaporator connected with liquid fuel source for impregnating hydroscopic element and fuel gas chamber-accumulator. Liquid fuel evaporator installed in space between outer and inner walls of evaporation chamber divides the space into inner and outer gas-accumulating chambers. Air feed channel is formed by inner wall of cylinder provided with through air intake window. Fuel-air mixture outlet holes are made in lower part of evaporator. Gas-accumulating chambers are interconnected by gas outlet pipe. EFFECT: increased capacity in preparation of homogeneous fuel- air mixture. 3 cl, 1 dwg
