FIELD: aviation; power engineering; gas-transfer stations in gas and oil industries. SUBSTANCE: method involves periodic measurements of iron particles in lubricating oil while engine is running. In the process threshold concentration of iron particles for normal wear Cg≠ 1,8÷2,0 g/t is determined and if further growth of Cg is detected, operating time of engine to pre-failure condition (300-400 h) is evaluated.
