FIELD: mechanical engineering, specifically, engine manufacture. SUBSTANCE: in correspondence with invention there is used gear incorporating immobile frame mounted on carriage or table of machine tool where turning part made of two specimens worked by traditional and new technologies and interjoined with the use of centering shank connected to machine tool spindle for rotary motion is installed. Specimens are installed into inserts which touch surfaces of specimens giving rise to their wear in the course of preset time. Specimens are weighed both before their setting in gear and after test and wear resistance is found by weighing with determination of their wear-out as difference of weights. Necks of crankshafts or inserts of internal combustion engines are used in the capacity of specimens. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of investigation of wear resistance of surfaces of necks of crankshafts of internal combustion engines, inserts of their bearings, shafts and tubes and so on. 2 cl, 1 dwg
