FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: described is method of preparing cyclohexanone-formaldehyde resin by polycondensation of cyclohexanone-containing component and formaldehyde at cyclohexanone to formaldehyde molar ratio of 1: 1.4 in the presence of alkali catalyst at 90-95 C followed by azeotropic distillation of alcohols. Cyclohexanone-containing component includes mixture of alcoholic fraction which is by-product for preparing caprolactam using oxidation system and X-oil which is by-product used for oxidation and dehydrogenation of cyclohexanone in caprolactam production at alcohol fraction cyclohexanone to X-oil weight ratio of (0.1-1).
