FIELD: pulp-and-paper industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves identifying and localizing paper defects by means of detector 5 directed at movable paper web 4; measuring or calculating paper web speed in zone between detector 5 and portion 6 disposed behind detector 5 and adapted for eliminating defect; calculating on the basis of obtained paper web speed value the moment of approaching of defective paper web portion to portion 6 for eliminating defects; automatically eliminating paper defects at portion 6 for eliminating defects. Auxiliary detector for preliminary and coarse measurement of paper defects is mounted in front of main detector 5.
